Project Overview
In Nature Time, this project  builds on  Prof. Jeffrey Shaw’s pioneering 1989 installation The Legible City, where the viewer rode a bicycle to navigate a virtual urban landscape. Three bicycles are positioned in front of three large curved projection screens , offering visitors the option to ride the bicycles or move freely between the screens. These screens display prerecorded video sequences of bicycle journeys through the gardens of Versailles. The speed of the video changes with the pace of the cyclists, making the experience interactive.

Technical Narrative
The curved screens are central to the design, creating a panoramic effect. The imagery is projected onto both sides of the screens, inviting visitors to move around and view the visuals from different angles. This setup generates a layered, almost maze-like environment, encouraging exploration from multiple perspectives. The interwoven screens mirror the experience of wandering through a garden, where impressions shift with every glance.

The project highlights the sense of discovery it provides. As visitors engage with the installation, they actively participate by becoming the camera operators and editors, shaping how the experience unfolds. This transforms the artwork into a dynamic, performed experience, rather than a static display. Through this immersive and interactive experience, visitors embark on a personal journey through the gardens of Versailles.
